Singapore Google Adwords Reseller

I chanced upon a Singapore website this week, Hardwarezone.com, bearing a logo that I have never seen before - a Google Adwords Reseller logo. Previously, the only Google Adwords program I knew of was the Google Advertising Professional program or "GAP".

Google Advertising Professional
This program was designed for professionals who want to manage multiple Adwords client accounts, and is available at the "Individual" and "Company" level. You need to fulfill certain requirements to qualify as a GAP. Once you have satisfied these requirements, you receive a logo that you can place on your website which links back to Google. Clicking on the logo will display a status page (click the logo below for an example - I'm not affiliated with this person).

Google Advertising Professional Requirements:
- manage at least 1 client account for 90 days.
- spent at least $1,000 (in your local currency) over that period.
- pass the online GAP exam (costs US$50 to take).

Google Adwords Reseller
So I poked around a little and found an
article about the appointment of Google Adwords Resellers in China. The article mentioned these resellers are meant "to go out and sell AdWords ads, evangelize the program and educate advertisers on the benefits of cost-per-click."

It went on to say that the Google Adwords Resellers "will offer advertisers a local vehicle to buy AdWords ads (i.e. using local payment) and receive service, support and advise from staffers trained by Google."

However, it also mentioned that the Google Adwords Resellers "will charge advertisers a service fee of at least 20 percent over the cost of the AdWords ads".

I wrote to Google regarding the logo I saw on this
page, and this was what they replied:

Thank you for your email. I understand that you would like to know if the website, www.googlereseller.com.sg/about/, belongs to our authorised reseller. Below, I've addressed your question.

We are currently running an authorised reseller program for Google AdWords in Singapore. Currently, Google has two Authorised AdWords Resellers in Singapore: Hardware Zone and Activa Media. The website you are referring to belongs to Hardware Zone.

Please note that your reseller will create and manage your AdWords account. Services provided include running monthly performance reports, answering your AdWords-related questions, and optimizing your ads and keywords. For more details, contact the reseller in your district.

For detailed information about the reseller program, please visit:
www.google.com.sg/reseller

If you have additional questions, please visit our Help Center at https://adwords.google.com/support, where you'll find the answers to many of our frequently asked questions.

We look forward to providing you with the most effective advertising available.

A Google Adwords Reseller is like a Google-appointed salesperson ...with monthly or annual sales quotas (US$750,000 a year based on unconfirmed sources). Their role is simply to educate, sell and process orders - do not mistaken them for the Google Adwords Professional, whose benefits lean more towards strategies to rank your ads higher at lower bid prices and to increase conversion rates.

So there you have it folks - the mystery of the Google Adwords Reseller solved!
And before I forget, here's how the Google Adwords Reseller logo looks like:

Update: I've been informed by potential clients of certain Google Adwords consultants and resellers that have the following charging models:
a) pay a higher consultancy fee if you receive more clicks on your ads.
b) pay a flat Adwords+consultancy fee, e.g. S$2,500 for 3 months of advertisements.

This raises some concern, which I've listed down below:
a) presents a conflict of interest since the fees are tied to ad spend.
b) Adwords is supposed to be flexible, e.g. in letting you set a daily budget. Also, what if your's isn't a popular keyword and the bulk of the S$2,500 goes to consultancy fees instead?
