Amazon.com has launched a public beta of their new context link ads for Amazon Associates. Dubbed Context Links (duh!), it works like IntelliTXT or Kontera, where you paste some Javascript codes on your pages and it will link relevant words/phrases to Amazon products. The difference is you get paid a commission for a sale instead of for ad clicks. The links are customizable and you can show a preview when someone hovers their mouse over the link: This is a nice move coming from a company that derives 40% of its sales from affiliates. Although it should be ok to display Context Links on the same pages as Google ads, I’m quite sure it will be against Kontera’s terms of service (TOS) so I probably won’t be using them on my websites anytime soon. Besides, Amazon products have been converting at roughly 1% for me so I’m better off with Kontera’s pay-per-click anyway. ;)

Thank You
