Haven’t posted for a while but here are some interesting numbers on Malaysia’s advertising industry in 2007. According to Nielsen’s report, ad spend grew 15% to RM5.5 billion last year, with newspapers having the biggest share at 56.1%. This was followed by tv (32.9%), radio (4.4%), magazine (3.0%), outdoor (2.0%), POS (1.1%) and cinema (0.5%). Last year’s big spenders were classifieds (RM677m), mobile operators (RM360m) and government institutions (230m), of which the Ministry of Health was the biggest contributor. On the private front, the biggest advertisers were: Malaysia’s adex for 2008 is projected at RM5.9 billion.
