Haven’t been blogging because I was in KL the whole of last week. Although I very much prefer Singapore for its cleanliness, safety and diversity, I’m starting to get use to KL - especially with food and shopping. I stayed at our apartment in Sentul East, part of YTL’s 10-year urban renewal plan for that area. Indeed, prices have appreciated significantly and someone is selling their 1,024 sq ft condo for RM360,000 - a whopping 50% more than the RM240,000 launch price less than 3 years ago. Even the recently launched D7 office lofts were snapped up in days although they were priced from RM400,000 a unit. Since we only stayed at the apartment once every two months or so, there was no telephone or Internet access and I had to “borrow” the neighbour’s wifi. For what it’s worth, I went out to get Celcom’s 3G wireless broadband and bought a Huawei 3G USB modem but it was crap. Although Celcom advertised it as 3.6Mbps, the experience was worse than a 56kbps dialup. And by the way, the free 3G modem that M1 provides for their wireless broadband is SIM-locked in case you’ve been wondering. KL is slowly turning into a shopping haven, especially with the addition of the new high-end shopping centers - The Gardens (Bangsar) and Pavilion (Bukit Bintang). I’ve added them to my list of favourite places to hang-out, the others being Low Yat, 1Utama, The Curve and MidValley Megamall. Pavilion is on the top of my list because it’s in downtown Bukit Bintang and hence, within walking distance to the other shopping centers. Those who love luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Prada will love it here because they’ve setup their flagship stores - each taking up 2-storeys! Heck, even ex-PM Mahathir’s bakery The Loaf has a shop here. With the recent liberalization of the KL-Singapore route, you will soon be able to fly Tiger Airways or AirAsia to do weekend shopping at these places. :) I tried catching Timothy Tiah of Nuffnang but somehow we couldn’t find a time we could agree on. I got a call from an online marketing company in Mont Kiara for a possible tie-up though - went for the meeting in shorts and slippers because I didn’t bring my “work” attire. It looks like I may have underestimated the ad spend for online marketing in Malaysia all this while. The other thing that kept me busy last week was this nice UK lady who kept coming back to buy my websites. So much so that now I have only my gospel lyrics site and forum left. If you’re wondering why I’ve not written the final part about my forum, it’s because I’m in advanced discussion with two parties. I already have a $38,000 offer but a UK magazine is also interested and has told me to wait for theirs. I’ll write the final part once all this is over so stay tuned! ;)
