Have a Facebook fan page? You’re probably already aware of the nice looking stats available via Facebook Insights. But what if you wanted to track more than just your fans? Or gain comprehensive information like you’re used to with Google’s Analytics? In this article, Webdigi gives us a workaround on how to install Analytics on your Facebook fan page. As a non-programmer, I found the article too brief for my understanding. However, I tried it out on a Facebook fan page and got it to work some how. Below’s a step-by-step of what I did to track the Wall page: 1) Create A New Website Profile on Google Analytics 2) Generate Custom IMG Tag 3) Add a HTML Box Using Static FBML 4) Enable FBML Box On the Fan Page You should be able to start receiving data in Analytics after a couple of hours. Note that I wasn’t able to verify that tracking was installed correctly by clicking on “Check Status” in Analytics. However, Webdigi commented that you could check by entering the URL after “img src=” in the generated Image Tag, into your browser. It should redirect you to Google Analytics but showing a blank page. Happy testing! > Learn about our Online Marketing Services
- click on “Add Website Profile”.
- call it “http://www.facebook.com” for example.
- note down the Web Property ID, e.g. “UA-993568-48″.
- head over to Webdigi’s code generator page.
- complete the form by entering the ID from Step 1.
- here’s a screenshot of what I did:

- head over to Facebook’s Static FBML application page.
- click on the link “Add to my page” (located left, just below the logo).
- go back to your fan page and click on “Edit my page”.
- you should be able to see “FBML” under Applications.
- click on “Application Settings”. Ensure ”Box” shows “Added” and “Tab” shows “Available”.
- now click on “Edit”. Enter the IMG Tag in Step 2, along with whatever you want shown on your page.
- here’s what I did:

- by default, the FBML Box appears in the “Boxes” tab.
- click on “Boxes” and you should see your FBML Box there.
- click on “Edit Box” and select “Move to Wall tab”:

- you should now be able to see the FBML Box at the bottom left of your fan page.

Thanks for this–it has been very helpful!
