Registerfly Godaddy Solution

If you’re one of the lucky Registerfly customers who still have domain names in your Registerfly account, check this out - you can now move that entire account to GoDaddy. Here’s how to go about it.

For those unaware of the situation, there had been an internal power struggle last year at Registerfly - a domain name registrar. This left their customers (including me) stranded - there was no technical support, payments for new registrations/renewals were stolen, and you couldn’t move your domain names to other registrars.

ICANN worked out a solution recently that included dropping Registerfly as an accredited registrar and moving their 850,000 domain names to GoDaddy. If you visit Registerfly’s website now, you’ll see the following statement:

NOTICE TO CONSUMERS.
THE INTERNET CORPORATION FOR ASSIGNED NAMES AND NUMBERS - THE NON FOR PROFIT ENTITY THAT ADMINISTERS THE INTERNET’S DOMAIN NAME SYSTEM, HAS ISSUED A NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF THIS COMPANY’S ACCREDITATION TO SERVE AS AN INTERNET DOMAIN NAME REGISTRAR.
PLEASE SEE WWW.ICANN.ORG FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.

I moved by Registerfly account to GoDaddy this morning and this was how it worked:
1) go to GoDaddy’s Registerfly Welcome Page.
2) enter your Registerfly username or customer number to reset your password.
3) an authorization code will be sent to your default Registerfly email address.
4) click on the link, enter your customer number and new password.
5) log-in to GoDaddy with your Registerfly username and new password.
** GoDaddy let’s you retrieve your customer number if you’ve forgotten **

Corporate customers, and owners of high-traffic and premium domains who had their domain names stolen or expired without the chance to renew may want to consider participating in the class action lawsuit against Registerfly, ICANN and eNOM.
