All three major search engines - Google, Yahoo and MSN/Live - provide a suite of webmaster tools that are useful for SEO. Using these tools, you can tell the search engines about your website, troubleshoot problems that are found by their spiders and instruct the search engines to remove a deleted webpage for example. I wrote to SGNIC to seek their comments regarding my post on the possible abuse of .sg domain names on 15th July and they finally replied today. Well, I’m truly appalled by the content of the email …I mean you’d expect more after two weeks. But what came back was basically registration guidelines (probably from their FAQs) and an instruction to remove SGNIC’s logo from my blog - totally irrelevant to what I asked. Here’s is a nifty trick that I learnt just recently - you can actually track clicks on outbound links on your website using Google Analytics. This is useful to track the number of clicks on an ad, website links in your articles and even those blogroll links in your sidebar. (more…)

There’s a guy who goes by the name of Lupperboy and is using the names of established Adwords companies in his ads on google.com.sg …in a negative sense. So if you searched for “activa media”, “bain mercer” or “purpleclick”, this is what you’ll see:

Domain squatting and domain speculation are quite common with gTLDs, e.g. you register a keyword name like “business.com” and then rent or sell it off for millions. Although SGNIC forbids such practices for .sg domain names, I’ve found some rather wasteful use by a local web hosting company. (more…)

This is great news for every SEO and Adwords marketer - Google’s Keyword Tool now shows the actual number of searches for a particular keyword, instead of those vague green bars previously. I’ve ran through some keywords and checked them against some of my Singapore Adwords campaigns and they’re quite close. Yay! (more…)

I just got a long, negative comment on my BuyButtonz post that was made back in May 2007. The comment is supposedly made by a frustrated BuyButtonz merchant, who is still owed S$241,000 by Chain Fusion Ltd. I can’t verify the allegations but you can read more on this blog (link provided by the author) to make your own conclusion.
