This is a follow-up to my earlier post about the alleged Singapore Google Adwords scam. After digging a little deeper, talking to people in the industry, here’s what I found out about Company A…

How much advertising budget does a specialist clinic allocate each year? A staggering S$500,000! A clinic I met last night spends S$180,000 on Google Adwords alone. If what she’s says is true, her campaign manager (lets call them Company A) is scamming her – a Google-appointed authorized Adwords reseller no less.

In my two years of working freelance, I have met several companies who strongly feel that freelancers are 2nd class vendors. Not only are we supposed to be cheap(er), but our services are perceived to be inferior to a full-fledged company - only those who cannot afford the services of these big companies engage us.

After ST701 Classifieds, SPH has now launched Singapore’s very own search engine called Rednano in collaboration with Norwegian media group Schibsted ASA. Function-wise, it’s nothing to shout about - Google provides local searches too. But from a commercial aspect, I think it’s a wise move by SPH.
