We know backlinks are the lifeblood of SEO and unfortunately, they are harder and harder to come by these days. Search engines have devalued directory links, paid links and even links from press releases. Blog comments are mostly “nofollow” and unless you’re Microsoft, you’re never going to get your own page on Wikipedia. Hence, it’s refreshing that AboutUs.org, just like its name suggests, lets you create a page about yourself or your company on their website. Recently, AboutUs.org even offered to remove the “nofollow” tag for links on your AboutUs.org page - giving you a valuable one-way link from an authority site. All you have to do is spend some time and effort on your page, and then send an email requesting for the “nofollow” tag to be removed, as instructed on their ProFollow page. To experiment, I created a page and then send the following email to help@aboutus.org with the subject “ProFollow”… Hi, Appreciate if you could remove NoFollow for external links on my page - http://www.aboutus.org/Larrylim.net Thanks, Within hours, I got the following reply… Looks good. I have ProFollowed the links on the http://www.aboutus.org/Larrylim.net page. Easy peasy! First-timers may find editing the page intimidating but it’s actually quite simple. However, if you’re in a hurry or have a lot of moolah to splurge, there’s a paid option on AboutUs.org. Known as Spotlight Article Service, you get a professional writer to create an SEO-friendly page for you, complete with multiple “nofollow” links to your website, for a one-time fee of $349. The page also get’s featured on the homepage of AboutUs.org for 2 weeks and is permanently listed on the PR5 Spotlight page. With a PR6, 8 million pages indexed on Google and 5 million visitors a month, I’d strongly advise that you waste no time in creating your free page on AboutUs.org. Update: It looks like this new feature was short-lived and AboutUs.org has reverted to adding NoFollow on all out-going links. > Learn more about SEO.

Thanks Rene. I just checked my AboutUs page again and confirmed that all out-going links are back to NoFollow.
