If comment spam was a measure of success then I guess my blogs are pretty successful. Since I started this Wordpress blog two months ago, I’ve seen my daily comment spam climbed from zero to more than 80 per day - mostly to do with meds like Xanax, Tramadol, Viagra, etc. Multiply that number for five blogs and I’ve got to moderate over 400 such comments everyday. Today is where I decided that enough is enough, and went on to install two very useful plugins. I’ve decided to only accept comments on this blog and to turn off discussion/commenting on the other 4 blogs. a) Wordpress Spam Karma Plugin b) Extended Comment Options Plugin So there you go folks - 2 very useful anti-blog spam plugins. I hope this information has been useful for you as it’s been for me.

Spam Karma 2 is a spam plugin that automatically stops all forms of blog spam without your intervention. The installation process is the same as for any other plugin, i.e. upload the files to your plugin folder and activate it. Finally, go into your “Options” area, set the filter level once and forget it.

Turning off commenting on my 4 other blogs was easy, but it would only affect new blog posts and not the previous ones. Of course I could manually edit each post to disable the comments, but what if I had 100 posts on each blog? Hence, this useful plugin lets you turn on/off commenting on ALL your blog posts with one click of a button.
