SEO & Google Adwords Case Study

There are believers in online marketing, and there are hard-core fans of traditional print, tv and radio ads. This blog post is dedicated to the group that sits in-between, still trying to convince themselves that it’s time to add the Internet to the marketing mix …and to those who are ignorant and are still afraid to learn.

I was spring-cleaning my website today and I noticed that I never answered the biggest question my potential clients probably have on their mind - does search engine marketing really work? Questions like how effective is SEO and will Google Adwords pay-per-click be just a waste of money?

So I wrote a page about how 2 of my websites have been successful with search engine marketing, complete with screenshots as proof.

1. Proof That SEO Works:
The first one is a gospel lyrics website (I’m a freethinker btw) that I developed to test my SEO skills. Today, it ranks in the top 10 results of 6 of the 10 most searched keywords in the “gospel lyrics” niche. As a result, 54% of my traffic or almost 13,000 visitors find my website from search engine results every month.

2. Proof That Google Adwords Works:
Prior to the public release of Microsoft’s new Windows Vista operating system in January, I created an Amazon affiliate website to see if I could sell the software, i.e. a software that won’t be shipped until mid-February. I ran an advertising campaign with Google Adwords and spent about S$540. Over the 3 weeks, slightly over 7,000 Internet users clicked on my ads, resulting in 103 shipped orders worth S$30,000!

With that, I bid you a temporary farewell as I head down to sunny Singapore over the next 4 days for a short business cum shopping trip. Take care. ;)
